Lost Abyss Booster Box

The Pokémon Trading Card Game invites you to take a perilous step into the unknown. The Lost Abyss Booster Box (Japanese: ロストアビス, S11) is the eleventh main expansion of the Sword & Shield Series, and it plunges players and collectors alike into a world of shadow, mystery, and the most feared mechanic in modern Pokémon TCG history: the Lost Zone. Released in Japan on July 15, 2022, this set is not just another expansion—it is a descent into a void from which nothing can return, and it has become one of the most iconic and valuable sealed products of the modern era.

The Lost Zone: A Permanently Altered Game State

The signature mechanic of the Lost Abyss Booster Box English set is the Lost Zone. Unlike the discard pile, where cards can often be recovered, cards sent to the Lost Zone are permanently removed from play. This creates a high-risk, high-reward strategy that fundamentally changes how the game is played. The mechanic forces players to think several steps ahead, carefully weighing the cost of banishing their own resources to unlock devastating abilities.

The ultimate payoff for this risky strategy is the Star Requiem attack of Giratina VSTAR, which can knock out any opposing Pokémon if you have 10 or more cards in your Lost Zone. This mechanic proved so popular and powerful that Lost Zone-based strategies dominated the competitive Sword & Shield format through 2023, creating a dual demand pillar—both players and collectors seek these cards.

The Crown Jewel: The $1,700 Giratina V Alternate Art

The Lost Abyss set is home to the single most valuable card you can pull from a standard modern Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion. The Giratina V Alternate Art (SA) is a masterpiece of illustration, depicting the Renegade Pokémon in all its terrifying glory. Its market value is staggering: approximately $984 raw*, and over *$1,700 in a PSA 10 graded condition.

This single chase card alone is worth 4 to 4.5 times the price of an entire booster box. Every sealed box carries roughly a 3.8% to 6.2% chance of containing this ultimate prize. That lottery-like thrill is what keeps Lost Abyss among the most sought-after sealed products in the modern Japanese card market.

What’s Inside the Lost Abyss Booster Box?

Every sealed Lost Abyss Booster Box is a treasure trove of potential, containing exactly 30 booster packs. Each pack holds 5 random cards, giving you a total of 150 cards per box.

The rarity distribution includes 27 Super Rare (SR) and 11 Ultra Rare (UR) cards, alongside Art Rares (AR), Super Art Rares (SAR), and the coveted Ace Spec cards.
